The Sparta City Fire Department has served the citizens of Sparta since 1879. The Sparta City Fire Department recently merged with Erv’s Rural Fire Department to form Erv’s Sparta Area Fire District. The Department now consists of nearly 50 members who come from all parts of the community. With two stations consisting of six engines, three brush trucks, two tankers and four equipment vehicles, the Department responds to an average of 100 calls per service year within the City.
